Mirkin Topp & the Hair of the Dog was a winner in the 2004 National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a scheme (possibly of the madcap variety) which challenged participants to write a 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days. I had nothing better to do at the time, so I boldly answered that challenge and came up with this.
